I’m getting better at trusting the first feeling

I used to give every doubt three explanations. Now I’m trying to listen sooner.

I am naturally good at seeing context. Someone is busy. Someone has had a difficult week. Someone is not great at texting. All of those things can be true, but sometimes understanding a reason made me ignore the effect something was having on me.

A boundary, for me, has become less about making rules for another person and more about knowing what I will participate in. I do not need to argue someone into being consistent. I can simply notice when something does not work for me.

That does not mean expecting perfection. People get things wrong. I get things wrong. The difference is whether the conversation feels respectful and whether behaviour changes when something matters.

I am still learning this in real time. But I trust calm more than intensity now, and clarity more than guessing. That has made dating feel a lot less complicated.
